It is time to celebrate the entertainment world embodied by an array of color and style displayed on the red carpet runway of the Emmys 2012. This year, I saw more pastels, neons, metallics, geometrics, and other unique concoctions. I did not see a unifying theme among the designers' creations unless "I look like an original" and "I look unforgettable" are considered valid. I included a Barbie/Barbie's friend as a style doppelganger for most of the ladies.
Julia Louis Dreyfuss looking simply elegant in a Vera Wang gown. The geometrics curve and intersecting lines were in harmonious balance.
Julia is just as enchanting as the "I Dream of Autumn" Barbie.
Nothing "revenge"-ful and scandalous about the adorable Emily Van Camp here. The drab color did not pair well with the design of the dress and her skin color and made her older than her 26 years wearing fancy lingerie. I prefer her with her hair unpinned.
I could easily envision Emily in a gown having a similar design worn by the "Christabelle" Barbie (2007)
Although yellow is a questionable color for the evening, Julie Bowen gave the red carpet some sunshine and pizazz:sunshine and pizazz:
Julie was fresh and hip as "The Hip 2 Be Square" Barbie (2000)
For Leslie Mann, the lemons were a tad sour. The crochet halter top did not "mesh" with the citrus.
Something serenely and refreshingly lovely about former "Dancing with the Stars" dance instructor Julianne Hough
in her aquamarine gown by Georges Hobeika.
Julianne exuded Hollywood glamour, just like the "Between Takes Barbie" (2000)
Sorry, Heidi, but you should have left your Vicky's Secret lingerie at home.
Maybe Heidi should have brought back the blonde ambition and glitz as she did here,
Lucy Liu, looking like a futuristic and galactic goddess in her Versace gown. In my opinion, the glamour and space fantasy are in harmonious balance. Do I see a new"Charlie's Angels" odyssey with Drew and Cameron to be set in outer space?

Oh Hayden! What happened here? Unless my eyes truly have deceived me, she seems to be decked in seaweed or blue hair. The design is lovely, but maybe the photograph does not accurately capture the gowns' fabric which dominate than enhance Hayden's charm and beauty.
The most talked about and unforgettable red carpet appearance: Sofia Vergara in her mermaid-style gown which seem to be MADE just for her.. Her gown embodies familiar design elements and the sparkling teal complements Sofia's mesmerizing persona. I have not seen Sofia look dismal in the public eye. She can wear even a potato sack with panache and can easily get away wearing a form fitting top and slacks on the runway. Wardrobe malfunction becomes media blitz and glitz. Credit to her stylist!
If I had to create a doll in the likeness of Sofia, I would use this Barbie Basics Barbie.
I adore Glenn Close. She is one of those versatile actresses that can easily get into any character imaginable: a plain Jane, androgynous somebody, and a wild seductress. Even at her age, I could easily imagine her looking graceful a:nd glamorous as Sophia Loren. Glenn can wear "big hair" and even beauty pageant-type gowns. But she missed the mark here. She criss-crossed many territories here.
Glenn looked edgy and chic earlier this year at the Oscar's.

I am still not sure about Zooey Deschanel ("The New Girl") in this dreamlike gown. Fashion critics said that she looked prom or pageant like. I think she was going for a retro Hollywood look, or possibly a fairy-tale princess/ballerina inspired look?
Zooey's grace and her layered skirt helped me to envision Barbie as the Swan Ballerina from "Swan Lake"
After looking at many of this year's Emmy looks, Padma Lakshmi of "Top Chef" takes the cake. For her, she does not need the frills or the glitz. She does that on her own.
